  7. <p>The unit was formed as the 82nd Fighter Wing at Grenier AFB, NH in August 1947 with the P-51 and attached to the 307th BW SAC, but inactivated in October 1949. It transferred to ATC and was redesignated 82nd Flying Training Wing at Williams AFB in February 1973, replacing the 3525th PTW. The unit was inactivated by September 1992, but reformed at Sheppard AFB in July 1993 to replace the 3700th Technical Training Wing.
